The University of the East’s 2009-2010 Intramurals, with the theme “Unity and Goodwill through Sports,” will open on Feb. 8, 9 a.m., at the UE Caloocan Gym.
The month-long basketball and volleyball competition will give UE students a time to show off their athletic prowess.
UE President Ester A. Garcia will give an inspirational message at the opening ceremonies. UE Executive Vice President Carmelita G. Mateo will formally declare the opening of the university-wide sportsfest.
Caloocan Chancellor Fedeserio C. Camarao will deliver the welcome remarks while PE Department Secretary Angelina Yusay will lead the Invocation.
Garcia will do the ceremonial volleyball serve, to be assisted by Mateo, Camarao and UE PE Dept. Assistant Director Rodrigo M. Roque.
A cheer-dance competition is now part of the UE intramurals, as it will be presented during the cross-over pairings, the semi-final basketball games.
The UE intrams aim to discover potential athletes and implement the university’s students wellness program.
For more info, call the UE PE Dept. at 735 -5471 loc. 346 or 352; or log in to www.ue.edu.ph.
