Pinaalalahanan ni Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile kahapon ang mga taga-usig mula sa Kapulungan ng mga Kinatawan na bantulot ang hukumang impeachment ng Senado na ipatawag ang mga associate justice ng Korte Suprema upang magsalaysay sa paglilitis kay Chief Justice Renato Corona.
“I would take an abundance of caution in subpoenaing members of a coequal department of government,” ani Enrile sa ika-13 araw ng paglilitis ni Corona.
“While we’re interested in ferreting out the truth, punishing anyone haled [to] this court, no matter how high and powerful, we must see to it that in the process we will not destroy the government established by our forbears...” aniya.
Maglalabas naman ang Korte Suprema ng “unified” na paninindigan kung haharap ba ang mga mahistradong ipatatawag ng hukumang impeachment. TJB, PCT
