Dismayado sa mga palabas na nagpapakita sa mga mambabatas bilang matataba, palamura at madudungis, nagsampa ng resolusyon si Pampanga Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. na umaapela sa mga gumagawa ng pelikula at palabas sa TV na “stop typecasting congressmen and congresswomen as villains or crooks in movies and telenovelas.”
Ipinanukala ni Gonzales ang House Resolution No. 2140 na nakikiusap sa mga prodyuser “not to create stereotypes or negative public perception against members of the House of Representatives.”
Aniya, pag-apela lamang ang puwedeng gawin ng mga kongresista dahil “this issue is covered by the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech and of expression.”
Sinabi niyang kahit pa sabihing may mambabatas na nauugnay sa kriminalidad “these are the exceptions rather than the rule.”
“These portrayals are unfair and, at the very least, sully the good name of honorable congressmen and congressowmen who work hard for the welfare of their constituents,” aniya.
Tinutulan ng ilang kapwa kongresista ang panukala ni Gonzales.
Ayon kay Ako Bikol Rep. Rodel Batocabe, hindi magugustuhan ng entertainment industry ang pakikialam sa kanilang kalayaan ng sining.
